frozen turkey breast

Post  terrybg on 13.12.09 23:19

Ty Reeta for your efforts. In the end I cooked it 11/2 hours. By now it was thawed. I was thrilled with its moistness. Today I went to have another slice and discovered it was pretty raw inside. I sliced it up and reheated it. Itr seems fine and still moist. I also cooked frozen fries. The first time, they were soggy. The second time they were crispy as I turned up the heat. I decided just to experiment. Any suggestions for baking?? Terrybg

Welcome Dianna

Here is a link to a recipe for a turkey crown posted by Reeta

http://halogenovenrecipes.forumotion.com/t263-turkey-roast-turkey-crown-with-lemon-thyme?highlight=turkey+breast#808

This is for a defrosted turkey crown - you will need to adjust the time for the weight of your breast - the one in the recipe is approx 9lbs so yours will need less time - hope this helps.

Hi Dianna

You need to defrost the turkey first.

Hi Dianna

The recipe in the link is for a turkey crown - maybe you call them something else in the USA - it's a full double turkey breast on the bone with the skin on, no legs or wings so therefore no actual cavity. Reeta has placed the breast skin side down and placed the lemon etc on top of the underside which helps to keep the meat moist and full of flavour.
If your turkey breast is about 2lbs lighter then you would have to reduce the time by around 20-30 minutes. Also turn it earlier (after about 40-45 minutes). Just make sure that the juices run clear when pierced - if not cook a little longer.
Ovens do vary so it might help to keep a note of how long it took for the next time. Hope this helps Very Happy
