Hello & help plz

Post  Penny on 21.01.11 15:59

Hello all, a very confused newbie here. My daughter bought me my HO just last week & I have had a go, once, but it was pretty much a complete disaster hubby wasn't impressed either.
Anyway thought I might have another go but am confused as to where I would put my parcel of brussels for steaming bottom rack with roast potatoes or top rack with pork chops or is this ALL wrong????
Thanks all

Penny

Hi Penny

Unfortunately manufacturers claim miracles for HOs and raise expectations. It is a small and efficient fan oven and does not have the speed of a microwave. It does however turn out some very tasty food. Have a good read around the forum for help when you get the time.
Until last week I just had a small 7 litre HO so couldn't fit everything for a meal in at one time.
If you are cooking home made roast potatoes, then parboil, then they will still take about 50 minutes to cook through on the bottom rack, turning to brown evenly. Frozen roast potatoes cook pretty much as for the fan oven settings on the packet.
I haven't steamed sprouts but I would place them on the bottom rack with the potatoes.
Your pork chops will cook quite quickly on the top rack.
Ovens do vary a bit and with a little practice you will get used to yours.
I hope this is of some help Very Happy

Thank you for your reply & support
I did indeed cook my chops etc & came out ok I double wrapped the parcel of brussels & put on the bottom rack with the potatoes for 30mins & they were absolutely fine, think I slightly overcooked the chops though but were still tasty
