extender ring use

Post  hitch hiker on 09.01.11 13:00

just bought my ho, and yes the manual is useless. Sad
first meal roast potatoes, parsnips and carrotts,[cooked straight in the glass bowl] lamb chops cooked on grilling tray on 3 inch rack great.
so my question is when do you use the extender rin? I tried to cook a turkey casserole last night, all items from cold.I used the bottom tray and cooked on 225 for 2 hours and still wasnt cooked, left it cooking for longer and had jacket potatoe instead. should i have used the extender ring and had it on the 3inch rack.

many thanks

Hi Hitch hiker

I think most people with an extender ring use it with the high rack to allow the heat to circulate better. Other suggestions include allowing ingredients to come to room temperature, preheating the oven and in the case of casseroles stirring frequently.
Timings for casseroles will always be a bit of trial and error as there are so many variables with the size and shape of dish and the size, amount of liquid and the weight of ingredients.
Sorry I can't be more specific.

thanks junnie
i think it is trial and error, using the ring to allow hot air to circulate would seem to be the way forward.

Extender Ring

I also always use the extender ring, nothing cooks properly on the bottom rack, the extender ring and the top ring is definitely the way to go.
