Sarah Flowers perfect baking

Hi all I noticed a couple of you have this book as I do has anyone cooked anything from it Question
I've just cooked the Maderia cake which should have been done in roughly 30 mins mine took 1hr 15mins Embarassed has anyone experienced a problem with the timings cake fine now but not whatt i expected for a quick cake confused Any help would be grateful please

Hi Hummingbird,
I haven't done that one yet

But I have done the Lemon Cream Sponge on page 116

I didn't follow Sarah's instruction fully. Even with the extender ring on top, I still cooked the cake one at a time. The timing was about just right but the temperature was still a bit too high. Half way through I reduced the heat to 130c

I had an excellent Lemon Cream Sponge cake.

(I am not implying that Sarah's recipe is wrong. This is what works best for my oven)

Hi June & Reeta thanks for that think my oven has an attitude problem Rolling Eyes one day it will cook a date and walnut cake from a old conventional oven book next time doing everything the same it just doesn't work may have to beat it into submission afraid it's only cakes it's got issue with ( maybe it's trying to tell me something madsmileys
