Halogen dumplings

Just noticed a recipe that incorperates dumpling I wont do the full recipe but this is the dumpling bit......

Dumpling

75g(3oz) Plain flour
75g wholemeal flour
2tsp baking powder
3tbsp dried bread crumbs
2 tbsp chopped chives
1 tsp poppy seed
1 egg
150ml(1/4pint) milk

Method

Put flours, baking powder breadcrumbs chives and poppy seed into bowl. In separte bowl beat egg with milk and add to flour mixture to make a dough, add more milk if dough to dry, Carefully drop dough mixture over meat for last 15 -20 mins of meat cooking time cover with foil cook for last 10mins of meat cooking time. Remove foil cook for a further 5 mins to brown. Suggested temperature is 180c

Hi hummingbird

Please could I ask what the recipe was that incorporates the dumplings, if it was a type of meat stew I would love to have full recipe I could not find dumplings in the a-z recipe section.

How's the fishing coming along Very Happy

Hi Toots of course you can ask unfortunately the book i had with that recipe has gone to a friend in Egypt so not able to help but I think you may enjoy this and you can make them to go with any meat stew Sad

This one goes with a lamb casserole just change herbs to suit meat

Mix 5oz Self raising flour
3oz shredded beef/veg suet
2 teaspoon rosemary
salt & pepper to season

Mix with 4floz water and bring togeteher into a dough. Make equal size balls add to casserole cover with tin foil cook for last 15 min approx or until well risen and fluffy. Happy munchies







Fishes not biting to cold here but only 9 weeks then Tuna Mackeral fish in general watch out I'm diving in the Red Sea..... hope the dolphins are around they are great to find fish with sunny flower

Thank you very much I will give it a try, my daughters will be very happy as dumplings are their favourite I used to use a pressure cooker when my girls were youngsters, stew & dumplings on a cold winters day was always great, till the pressure cooker just up and died of old age lol
