New oven, old idea?

Post  izal13 on 20.11.10 12:45

Hi everyone,
I just thought you may be interested in something that occured to me when I bought my new FlavorWave the other day. When I first married, in 1969 my new husband and I were invited to a presentation evening in a local pub. They were demonstrating a new, all in one table top cooker with an infrared grill in the lid that cooked a whole chicken meal, and other things, in one go. Living in a tiny flat we decided to buy one and it worked a treat. I can't remember what it was called and it came with a lot more bits than my new one. Anyone else remember this thing? Sadly it didn't seem to take off the way halogen ovens have but the idea certainly seemed the same.

Hi Maureen

Sorry, it doesn't seem as if anyone else does remember this. Your post intrigued me and I've tried to find out some more info with no success. Sad

It seems that you had a cooker that was ahead of it's time. Thanks for telling us about it.

Maybe a future member will be able to shed some more light on this. Very Happy

Hi June,
Strange that, maybe I'm one of your older members Very Happy I don't remember ever seeing these things advertised and as we didn't have the internet in those days I suppose they only sold them at these presentations in London. Also cookers were easier to get hold of as well so there was little need for a table top cooker. I wish I'd held on to it now, it would be interesting to compare.
