Re: I've been Playing - Bacon and eggs

Post  wimplebum on 25.11.09 22:47

I did similar, put the bacon on the bottom rack and 2 eggs in their shells on the top rack and cooked for 10 minutes. The bacon was good and the eggs were hard boiled - thats from the recipe book for the easylife halogen oven. It says if you want soft boiled eggs 6 minutes is long enough.

Boiled Eggs

Post  wimplebum on 26.11.09 19:20

Hi Bizzy Bee,

No just put the eggs into the Halogen oven as they are. If they are cold they will sweat for a few seconds but that soon comes off. Whatever you do, don't pearce the shell. I have a horrid feeling that if you do, as they warm up you will have strands of egg from the hole.

Havent tried it, but thats how it looks to me. I just put the eggs in whole - all I did to them before I put them in is to wash the shell to remove the grime on them. Cooked mine for 10 minutes and they were perfect - no black on the yolks - were really nice.

Boiled Eggs

Post  wimplebum on 30.11.09 22:29

Sorry about the delay in responding - I've been very ill.

Now, settings for boiled eggs - I used the higher rack and cooked them at 200C/400F - the recipe says 6 minutes for soft boiled or 10 minutes for hard boiled. I like hard boiled and they came out perfect. I had 2 eggs in - the recipe says 4, but I don't think it makes much difference on how many you put in, as long as they are well spaced so the hot air can get right round them.

Hope you have the same success I did.

Many thanks. I've just tried the soft boiled eggs and they were perfect at 6 minutes on the lower rack. Couldn't believe the lack of steam and mess.

Hi i think the light goes off like the thermostat on your main oven, when it reaches the right temp.
I I think Barbara Wink

Hi
This is from a previous post by wimplebum -

I think someone mentioned that the instructions came from the Easylife instruction book.
Hope this helps Smile

Hi Sugar29,
if you type key words such as eggs, bacon in the search box you will get the answer from previous posts.

Here's a post from Chris http://halogenovenrecipes.forumotion.com/t311-bacon-sausages-hash-browns-and-eggs#959

Hope this helps

How strange that you can boil an egg, in an oven, with no water - never heard of that before - haven't even tried it in a microwave, I'm sure my microwave book says not to do this. I can't wait to try it, a bit scary, but nothing ventured nothing gained!
