Oh thanks for that info.

I have just posted a query regarding using casserole dishes etc, and your post goes some way to answering.

Hi Bizzy Bee
Will definitely try these. One question .. which rack did you use? I always seem to get stuck on this point.

Hi Cooka

Top rack with the extension ring is best if you have one.

Have tried this yorkshire pudding recipe and it always comes out like a pancake. Have I got the temp too high or low? Any ideas cause I love yorkshire puddings!!!

Hi chalmers,

yorkshire pudding is a tricky one. You get different results from different ovens.

Try this: preheat your HO including the dish you are using to make the YP - 250º , cook on top rack with extender ring until golden brown.

Good Luck

I tried this but the bottoms were soggy and the tops burnt, I got hold of a thick round steel plate and put this on the rack with the tins on top and preheated the lot to 220C, Then poured the mix into the tins and cooked normally.

This will work with cakes too as it adds heat to the bottom at the start of cooking and no one likes a soggy bottom Wink.

thank you lazbee

I have yet to try doing Yorkshire pud but I do think many of the same rules apply as they do with conventional cooking and it is less about recipe and more these rules. Hot oven, hot dish to pout the batter in to and don't take the top off until it is cooked and risen. So pre heat, pre heat pre heat and you should succeed. \will left you know how \i get on with my first attempt. KP

yes you are right Keith. Preheating the oven , tin, the lot will give better result. Experimenting is the key to success, for all new HO users
