Taking The Plunge!

Post  deepend on 19.08.10 3:50

Hi all,

Well, I finally decided to buy a Halogen Oven today (JML) having previously seen it on one of the shopping channels.
I then found this website/forum and immediately signed up.

I'm not a cook at all though I do have a go with chicken curries, pasta dishes, etc., using sauces bought from my local supermarket. However, being a little lazy when it comes to cooking, I must admit it's as much for convenience as anything. But I do like the idea of it and that it seems more versatile than my microwave oven.

My main oven gets little use these days - mostly I use the hob and the grill. Maybe now, even that will change?! Smile

Finally, I've also just tried my first HO dish; actually, just a light, late-night snack - a toasted ham and cheese sandwich. Mmmm, nice! Smile

Cheers for now...

well we have to eat when we are hungry, so we have to cook sometimes.
Well done for trying Smile

I do agree for snacks the HO is perfect. It is used so many times a day in my house. 3 sons, all eating at different times when they are at home and the best part is - they enjoy cooking their own lunch because of the Halogen Oven

Thanks for your messages Reeta and kooky. I certainly hope to make more use of my HO... Smile

That said, I'm just reading up on a few more reviews and opinions and I'm rather concerned by people's comments elsewhere regarding the life of the bulb and difficulty with finding replacements. Shocked

Any thoughts or advice there?

Hi and welcome

Welcome

I'm sure you will enjoy experimenting with your HO.

With regard to bulb life, remember that you have a manufacturers one year warranty. I use my oven so much that I would happily buy another if it fails after the warranty expires.

Hi June,

Of course, it's very early days for me at the moment.
As you say, there is the 1 yr warranty should anything go wrong.
