Hi I`m a new member

Post  grandmastar on 12.08.10 20:19

Waiting for my halogen oven to arrive, hope it lives up to expectations. My name is Cindy. Hubby & I have just bought our 2nd Motorhome and unlike the old one, the new one has no oven, hence the purchase. I gather the info and recipes leave a bit to be desired so I`m hoping for plenty of cooking tips.
Thanks all - bye for now Cindy.

That is so true Cindy but don't worry you will find so many tips, advice and recipes here - and if you can't find what you need, just ask in the Q and A section

Hello and welcome Cindy

Welcome

I'm sure you will find the oven really useful in your motorhome. Mine is currently on its holidays with us in our touring caravan.

New member - new cooker

Post  grandmastar on 13.08.10 12:48

Received HO today, very quick delivery from Ebay seller. The oven is a Bosan? I haven`t come across anyone else who has one. £29.99 for 12Lt size plus £3.99 carriage. Very good price for the large size and the instructions and recipe leaflets don`t look too bad. I`m going to roast potatoes tonight, wish me luck, I`ll let you all know - Bye for now Cindy.

Hi Cindy.

Viscount bought the same one from Ebay

Did you get 1 year warranty from your seller?

Viscount had a few problems with his one and in the end it worked out to be an expensive HO (in my opinion )

Please read his posts for more info

Good Luck with the roast potatoes tonight

Reeta, You are a gem thanks for your interest. I am well impressed. Cooked Sweet Potatoes. Par-
boiled for 5 minutes & cooked on high trivet for approx 16 - 17 minutes on 200. Sprayed with just a little olive oil. Wonderful, yummy, half the time it takes in my fan-assisted oven. Didn`t chance doing the nut cutlets as well but will next time. Bye for now Cindy.

Hi all, I`m getting on great with my new Bosun HO. Did chicken legs this morning and jacket potatoes this evening, both turned out lovely. I`ve come to the conclusion that if you just think oven and cook at the same temperature and for roughly the same time you can`t go wrong.
I am the sort of cook who stays in the kitchen (with a glass of wine) and checks the progress anyway which I think you need to do with the HO perhaps a bit more than with a conventional oven?
Bye for now Cindy.

Hi Cindy

The glass of wine bit shows you are of the same school of cookery as me. Very Happy

With a little practice you will find the cooking times can be shaved a bit but not as much as the manufacturers seem to claim.

I agree that checking the progress goes with the territory until you are confident in your recipes.
