Hi everyone, just joined joined and finding my way around.

Hi all, I am Lindy, and I live in Lincolnshire. I have just bought myself a halogen oven from ideal world with hinged lid, and hoping i have done the right thing, as i thought it would be safer. I am still working out out to use oven, have tried a few things out, and not quite got the hang of it yet. Grilled some chicken pieces with spices on, great, simple cheese on toast not so great, underside not fully toasted. I have seen good and bad reviews on cookshop halogens from ideal world, would love to hear what u think...Lindy

Try toasting one side without the cheese, turn it over then add the cheese and toast it

About the reviews - were they for the customer service / after sale service ?

As far as the principle of operation for all Halogen Ovens I would say they are similar. From what I have read it doesn't matter what brand of HO you have bought, they are all at the same level at the moment.

In my opinion if we buy one that is more expensive we are only paying extra for the famous name on it.

I am certain someone must be working very hard right now to improve their design.

welcome

lindysunshine wrote:Hi Rita thank you will try that. Did a lovely roast chicken, and some roast potatoes, which were great, although i did par boil them first. I tried a frozen pizza in it, think i must have had it to high, overdone on top, and uncooked on bottom..any tips. Did some bacon, it was great, and did not take long...Thank you Linda.

I had the same problem with pizza when I started using my HO. After trying different ways, this is what works best for me -

Place pizza on the high rack to allow the hot air room to circulate underneath the pizza

Use the extender ring to prevent the top getting dark too quickly

Cook on low heat for longer
