A tip to avoid trouble.

Post  Viscount on 29.06.10 21:13

I was cleaning the top today and noticed the cover plate on the underside was getting pretty carbonated even though I have only had it for a few weeks.
The cover plate is held on by three philips screws and I decided to remove the plate for a good clean.
It was not easy, and had I left it for much longer it would have been impossible to get off without ruining the screws.

Bearing in mind that this plate would have to be removed to replace the element, it would be a good idea to loosen the screws on occasions when cleaning. Thus ensuring that when you NEED to remove the plate, it will come off easily.

Good one Viscount

Had a look at my HO and it's loo late for mine, can't loosen the screws. They have been baked, sealed What a Face

Replacing the elements ? This is a big problem for HO owners.

There has been discussion about this in other threads and as far as I can remenber, no one knows where to buy one

Any idea?

Just noticed one of your advertisers supply the tubes.
£11.98 14 days delivery. (UKHS)

my ebay seller doesnt have the tubes but will supply the complete top for £19.99 free postage and usually next day delivery.

I have contacted the place you mentioned and asked if their Halogen Oven element can be used in other brand of HO. They were very honest about it and said that they don't know

All costing too much to replace in my opinion and then something else go wrong or the element just doesn't work for your particular oven

Personally, I would rather add a bit more money a buy a new one. That way I will get a new 1 year cover.
I have seen places selling them for under £30.00
