Replacement Bulb

Post  sunshinesue on 27.04.10 19:37

Hi
The bulb has gone in my JML Halogen oven tonight, and I am devastated, I use my oven all the time. Has anybody else had this problem, if so could you please let me know where I can go to get a replacement.

My husband is going to ring JML direct in the morning so fingers crossed can get is sorted ASAP.

Many thanks
Sue

Hi Sue,

I received an email from someone with same problem.

They could not find information about replacement halogen bulb for this oven. They contacted JML and because it was bought over a year ago, they couldn’t get a replacement.

They tried the manufacturer in China and were told that they only accept large orders – 3000 plus bulbs

Sue please let us know of the outcome.

Thank you

Yes, I was wondering about this very issue, does anyone know approximately how long the bulbs last?

I would assume that there are some specialist bulb suppliers in the uk who may be able to supply the bulbs but where would you get a manufacturers part number from?

I assume, that in your case (jml) replacement part number will not be the same as the original manufacturers part number.

I'll have a search on the web and see what i can come up with, if i get any results at all i'll post them here.

I've spent ages looking around, following many blind avenues, with no success, the nearest i have managed is a specialist bulb supplier however in order to get any further the bulb manufacturer must be put into their search engine.
The makers of the halogen ovens don't make their own bulbs, but they have a manufacturer make the bulbs for them, if anyone could find the bulb manufacturers name then it may be possible to approach them directly, however i would suspect there would be some sort of minimum order.

Hi Phill

Thanks for trying. Smile You are probably right about the minimum order. I'm going to try a couple of things myself and will post anything helpful here - if I get anywhere!!!

Hi

I contacted the wholesaler of my Elgento oven (not the retailer) to ask about replacement bulbs should mine fail. Here is the reply

Hello June,

Thank you for purchasing one of our products.

As we are a wholesaler we only stock whole items. We can occasionally
get spares off items that have been returned. If the bulb does go I
would try to return the item to where you have purchased it from first
and see if they offer you a replacement. If you have tried that and had
no success we will always try our best to help you.

We can offer spare parts if we have them available but we are unable to
issue a replacement or a refund as you have not directly purchased the
item from us.

Thank You

Kind Regards

Customer Services

It's a step up from no help but I wonder what the chance would be of them having the right bulb at the right time !!!

Do you think it would be worthwhile asking them to try and get you one, so that you have a spare?

Hi Phill

Thanks, I tried and have just got the reply that I expected ie: my oven is guaranteed for 1 year and any problems within that time would need to be sorted out by the retailer.
The wholesaler would only try to help after this time and only if my retailer had been unable to help first.
Also as they only stock whole items, they are unable to help re manufacturers/retailers of replacement bulbs.
It was worth a try but back to the drawing board Question

Halogen bulbs

Post  MalCoop on 11.08.10 7:52

It is possible to obtain replacement bulbs via Ebay.

You should be warned that it is extremely difficult to replace a bulb, at least on the JML model. I tried it but I was unable to remove the fan and I was therefore unable to get to the electrical connectors for the bulb. I eventually gave up and bought a new oven.

Hi Elinacai,
I remember someone on this forum tried to replace their halogen oven bulb and found it a very awkward procedure.

Have you been able to uncrew the metal cover to get access to it?

Even if you do managed to replace it, how long will it last?
How much does the bulb cost including postage & packing ?

My advice would be to get a new one and this time with 3 years warranty.

June has posted this amazing deal today (thank you June) http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_17220.htm

Get to your nearest Aldi early on Sunday morning and pick up this bargain

Good Luck

Thank you!

We have managed to disconnect the bulb that's gone, and put it all back together again as we don't want to forget how to assemble it! It did take two people about 20 minutes, one person holding it so it doesn't roll about, and making sure we wrote down how to put it together. It was pretty complicated.

I am desperate to get it back up and running so we ordered a bulb from ebay for £12.99 including postage on Friday afternoon and it has already been posted out to us so hopefully we will get it in a couple of days and be able to put it in. Bulb description says you cannot touch it so my hubby says he will have to wear gloves to fit it.

The Aldi deal looks fabulous, that's the cheapest I've seen one, might have to check it out today Very Happy having two of them would be really useful when cooking my cupcakes!!

how did you do it?

Post  wphil on 22.10.11 12:50

Hi elinacai

How did you manage to get it apart? It seems like you need to remove the fan to get the metal plate off and get to the connectors to the bulb. I couldn't work out how to remove the fan as I was not able to hold the shaft to remove the nut.

So did you have to remove the fan and if so how did you manage it?

Thanks.

Hi stephens,
you can replace the bulb/element but I don't believe you can replace the thermostat.

Has the warranty expired?
