Xmas dinner

Post  LesleyM on 25.12.14 18:16

I put some goose fat roast potatoes in for 20 minutes then basted them- but I had to put hunters chicken in so the spuds are on the lower rack-just hope this works

And wow! It worked- we had hunters chicken, goosefat roasted potatoes and sprouts with bacon and it was the best Xmas dinner in years! Last year I think we had eggs and bacon 'cos I wasn't sure I could cook much else then my brother sent me some money so I got the HO in January and now look at me!

Yesterday didn't quite work out as planned as I found the last turkey in the shop. Co-Op. 2lb of stuffed turkey breast was a tenner reduced to clear 2.49 and if I brought that then I had over 15's worth of groceries but had a voucher for 3 quid off if I spend over 15 so effectively it was free! Roasted in the HO, it came out beautiful and with cauliflower cheese was a big dinner for 2 people. This morning we had turkey sandwiches for lunch and tomorrow lunch will be cold turkey, chips and pickles. Alas we may be eating turkey rather a lot for the next few days but the cats are already dreaming of leftovers

(it came out beautiful)  I would say it was a success Lesley and it didn't cost much which is a bonus.

I have been in that situation before. The turkey was still with us to celebrate the New Year. My boys are not keen on turkey so we have chicken instead.

At least the cats are having a feast.  coucoufleurbleue

In the end there was very little for the cats after a day or so I just put out sliced turkey with bread and a selection of pickles and some friends who came round tucked into it
