Flat Top Muffins

Post  BigL on 09.04.14 12:53

I am still trying with this Halogen Jobie and I have to say I have had a little success such as perfect roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, toad in the hole and a tinned loaf. Thinking I'm on a roll I tried some muffins. I took my usual mix as if they were destined for a normal oven then used silicone cases and baked in the Halogen at 200c for 25 minutes. I have to say the taste is fine but the appearance is less than flattering. Some are just flat across the top whereas others have tilted to one side when I use the normal oven I have no problem with them rising to the expected dome. Any idea where I am going wrong.
Thanks Big L

Hi BigL,

here's a recipe for perfect muffin
http://halogenovenrecipes.forumotion.com/t354-picture-perfect-muffins?highlight=muffin#1198

I do get one or two tilted to one side but the taste and colour are fine.

I wrote this post based on my own experiences with cakes/baking in the halogen oven.

I hope it helps you BigL
