Egg failure turned into success.

Post  whistonian on 03.04.14 16:55

This morning I cooked 4 thick rashers of bacon on top rack for 12 min. half way i opened HO turned rashers and placed egg on bottom rack and continued cooking for final 6 min.Result excellent bacon but the egg was completely uncooked  Crying or Very sad  so I removed the bacon and dropped the egg onto the top rack and fried it,great result.
Question does food cooking on top rack stop heat getting to bottom rack.I could not understand why the egg was completely untouched after 6 min.

because the heat source is coming from the top, it cooks everything on the top rack first. When cooking on both racks you have to swap the trays - like you have experienced with your egg.

Wondering if this would work- put bacon on foil for a few minutes- enough to make some of the fat sweat out then break eggs into the bacon fat to fry- obviously the foil, fat and any added oil would have to be very hot so the eggs would solidify on contact or perhaps I could do the bacon then drop it to the high rack, oil a roasting tray and break the eggs into that and put that on the air fryer with the extension ring on? Bacon and fried eggs is something we both miss

Hi Lesley, don't see why either method shouldn't work.Best try them both and see which comes out best.As I have read many times on this forum it's all about trial and error.Yesterday I sliced a tomato and placed it around the bacon for the last minute, lovely jubly Very Happy
