An unsual use for an HO

Post  LesleyM on 02.04.14 22:48

A couple of weeks back our boiler packed up- a week ago last Tuesday the engineer sorted it- only it turned out half an hour after he left it kept cutting off so we had to call him back although in the meantime it did heat up enough for me to have a warmish shower of a morning. He came back yesterday and it turned out our boiler was unsafe enough that it was a wonder I hadn't been blown out the buildng in the midst of a shower! So we now have been told we can't use the boiler for as many weeks as it takes to grt fixed and in the meantime never mind me and cold showers every morning we're lacking hot water to do things like cleaning up

Alas out kettle isn't going to produce enough hot water without multiple refills, we don't have access to an electric ring as the HO is in the way (We're going to dump our George Foreman and get a single ring to replace it for things like warming up soup)

Then again our HO is a 12 litre one....so I took off the extender ring, removed the racks, filled it 2 thirds full of cold water, turned it up full blast and lo and behold I had enough really hot water in 10 minutes to fill the mop bucket and its easy to handle because of the side handles

This morning being whole heartedly sick of cold showers I filled it almost to the brim maxed the temp and in 10 minutes had enough hot water for a warmish bath!
