Cleaning HO bowl

Post  whistonian on 27.03.14 9:34

I am a newby with HO's To clean the bowl my instructions say...allow bowl to cool down then put soapy warm water ( to avoid thermal shock) in the bowl and turn thermostat setting to thaw for 5 minutes, then clean bowl with wash brush .OK that's fine but what is the SAFE amount of water to put in bowl to ensure water does not splash upwards onto the heat bulb. Rolling Eyes

hi whistonian...
in my experience there is not a problem with splashing, but the bubbles created lol ....maybe used too much washing up liquid !!!
i find that enough water to cover the stand (lower)is plenty as the majority of drips /goop are on the bottom of the bowl.
to be honest only ever used the wash cycle twice, since then i just wash the racks/stands in the sink after every use and the bowl once a week (i use foil in the bottom of the bowl folowing a tip from here ,which catches the spills /drips and change as needed)

I fill mine half full with cold water, turn the racks upside down, add washing up liquid and leave the extender ring on then run the wash cycle for 15 minutes then empty the bowl out , rinse a couple of times to remove any traces of washing up liquid then leave to dry

I found a little trick to ease the cleaning process significantly. You can set aluminium foil on the bottom of the glass cup to cover it completely. This way any liquids which fall down will stay on the foil and won't stain the cup. After a several meals you can replace the foil with a new one.

Forgot to give credit for this tip to my mates from Haringey's Oven Cleaners branch Smile
