Cheats Danish pastries

Post  poppyseed on 28.02.14 10:29

Made these a few times and have to share as it's such an easy recipe but looks like you have spent ages making these  Laughing Laughing
Ingredients
Sheet of ready made puff pastry ( I used jus roll puff sheet 320g)
Fillings such as Nutella, lemon curd jam,
I egg beaten.
Method
Put low rack into halogen oven, line a pan with grease proof paper and preheat for 3 mins at 200oc.open the pastry sheet and cut into six squares cutting across the middle and down twice.cut a slit in each corner from the corner towards the middle but only about an inch long.place a spoonful of jam or your chosen filling in the middle, fold every other corner into the middle like a pin wheel or windmill, brush with the egg wash.lift into the halogen oven with a frying slice, cook two at a time,6-7 mins one side then flip egg wash again and 6-7 mins on the other.let them cool a bit, lift out and dust with icing sugar.if the grease proof gets sticky Inbetween bakes change it to stop the pastries sticking.i have also found using lemon curd or jam from the fridge helps to stop it spilling out of the pastry.

Thanks

Something I used to do in the oven (got it off the back of a pack of dried apricots) was similar and incredibly nice
1.  Bake pastry on one side
2. Turm pastry over and place a small slice of marzipan on it
3. Top with dried apricot
4 Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle cinnamon if wanted on it
5. Bake the other side

I think I'll give that a try in the HO- your timings should work
