Same here. I really couldn't use my old oven that much (In fact haven't for years) it was too big for just the two of us and the pre-heating time upped our electric bill big time. So we used our microwave, which doesn't cook some things and our George Foreman grill, which tended to dry things out a bit or just grabbed a takeaway. So about 5-6 weeks ago I took the plunge and got my halogen oven. I was really nervous the first time apart from anything else my partner thought it might be a gimmick and so it had to perform from day 1 or he'd just dismiss it and it wouldn't get used.
It cost me £70 including an air wave fryer and has already paid for itself in terms of not using takeaways at all.
So far most things I've cooked has been stuff like Birds Eye cod in batter with oven chips etc although it has to be said this the best oven chips etc EVER! And no added oil so healthier. But last week I did a gammon joint. I now enjoy cooking much more and am considering a serious Sunday roast this week..this from someone who wasn't keen who now finds herself reading cookbooks
