I have been using a table top glass oven for many years here in Cyprus but it is not a halogen type as it has an ordinary heating element with fan. It's now making awful noises so I am thinking of replacing it with a halogen version and wondered what differences you think I would experience.

Hi Ageing Rocker
you have a Tabletop Convection Oven. Yes it looks like a halogen oven - without the bright light.

The halogen oven costs less to operate but just like a light bulb after so many hours it burns out.

The Tabletop Convection Oven can go on for many years.

I am on my 4th halogen oven. I use it everyday and 3 have lasted for about 18 months. If you decide to buy one make sure to get an extended warranty as well.

Hope this info is helpful

Keep on rocking  7up

Thanks for your fast response. Let me get this right, are you saying that the average lifespan for a regularly used halogen oven is about 18 months then it has to be binned? Is it not possible to replace the halogen tube when it burns out?

JML make it easy to replace the bulb for their new Halowave. Andrew James provide you with a spare bulb and 1 year extra warranty.
For my first halogen oven I didn’t buy any extra cover , so after 18 month it went in the bin  (kept the big glass bowl) There were no replacement bulbs in those days. Then I bought another one with with 3 years warranty. They replaced it with a brand new one each time it didn’t work.
You do get replacements bulbs for some well known halogen ovens. For others you need to check if the bulb is compatible before buying one. Bulbs can cost about £9 to £12 each
If you spend £60 for your oven - with a total 3 years warranty, that makes it £20 a year. In my opinion it's worth it. The halogen oven is now an essential appliance in my kitchen.
