Cooking a cassrole

Post  norval on 04.04.13 12:51

I bought a halogen over to cook a meal quickly when I get home to work. I tried a sausage casserole by frying the sausages first then adding them to the casserole mix. My question is: The instruction stated, for a fan oven, to cook at 170 degrees for an hour, I used a glass dish with a lid and put it on the bottom rack. After 30 minutes I checked if it was cooking ok but the liquid was lukewarm so I removed the lid and everything was cooked and hot after the final 30 minutes. Should I have put the lid on in the first place or tried the upper rack with the extender ring?

Hi Norval,

Cooking on low rack without the casserole lid has worked fine for you, then carry on doing it this way.

Tips when cooking casserole: whenever you need to add water/liquid, it’s best to use hot water. This helps to reduce the cooking time.
