UPON SWITCHING ON ........HOW LONG.........

Post  munchino on 18.03.13 9:59

Hi there everyone,

I'm having my first go at roasting a chicken in my PROlectrix 12l badboy.

The machine is new. This is it's 3rd official use.
#1 Used it to brown off a Boiled Ham (Coca Cola style). Worked fairly well.
#2 Treacle Pudding. ....thought I'd use the dark treacle especially bought for the Ham's sticky glaze, swopping out the recipe book's requirement of golden syrup with the dark treacle. complete FAIL....haha, cake wasn't set, took 30minutes instead of 20 minutes, and the dark treacle was way to strong in flavour. Virtually inedible. had to bin it.
#3 right now trying to roast a 1.8kg chicken, got it on the lower rack at 190deg.
Here's the actualy question, right from the get go, the light turns on and off frequently. Is this a fault. I would have thought it would stay on a t least a few minutes to get to temperature, but I am talking about it going on and off very few seconds. In fact it's almost as if the light goes off for longer periods than it actually stays on. The fan is working fine constantly.
When you guys put on your oven to preheat or whatever to a high temperature like 190deg, how long before the light turns off for the first time? ... or how many times does your light go on and off in the first minute ot two?
Thanks

munchino

I didn't time it but i think its about the same length of time on and off, might be worth buying a meat thermometer to check its getting to the indicated temperature and it is staying constant.

I have this one which does meat and oven -

I think as everything seems to cook prefectly, that this has something to do with the temp and the way the oven works.
