Cookies and scones not rising

Post  zikmorf on 24.07.12 1:41

Hi, I only just bought a prolectrix 12l HO today and already I've made a meal and 2 snacks in it, fun time.

Naturally I'm still getting used to cooking temperatures as it's very different from my main oven, but the cookies and scones I made didn't cook so well, I mean they come out fine, middles a bit soft so they needed turning, lower temperature for more time would no doubt solve that(?).

Anywho, the problem is that the scones didn't really rise by much and the cookies didn't really spread out, they stay almost the same shape as the dough when I put them in there and I'm hoping it's not my luck I'd have to stick to my convectional oven to do my baking as that's what I do the most.

I bake alot of cakes and haven't tried that yet but if cookies and scones have trouble rising, I don't wanna risk them yet until I seek some advice.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Marc

Hi Marc,

did you preheat the halogen oven?

Baking in the HO is achieved successfully with a bit of experimenting until you get it right for your oven.

Here's a link to a previous post to help you. http://halogenovenrecipes.forumotion.com/t2048-baking-cakes

Thanks for the reply, yeah I did preheat it, maybe it's the lack of an extender ring which is doing it, a few things to try anyway, all this new learning curve is oddly exciting lol.
