Hello from Thailand

Post  Pom on 09.07.12 7:13

Hi, my husband and I just took delivery of a Mamaru 12l HO, unfortunately it didn't come with a few of the 'necessary' accessories, such as an extender ring etc....however my husband did a work-around by taking a strip of metal and sizing it and riveting it to the same diameter as the bowl, should work a treat, he also made some little tube feet that we can place on the pegs of the lower tray, raising it's height a little so that it can get good airflow, we have in essence 3x rings...1x low ring, 1x home-made medium ring and a tall ring.

Anyway, we just used it for the first time, cooked some home made burgers ( ground mince beef with onions, herbs, black pepper and spring onion )....absolutely wonderful, cooked for 20 mins, put the burger on a bun....covered with grated cheese and placed in the microwave for 10 secs, best burgers we've tasted in a long time, so all in all, a great success for our first endeavour with an HO. Very Happy

It's amazing what you can do with a bit of common sense.

I do believe you husband has created the first Frankenstein halogen oven Laughing

"covered with grated cheese and placed in the microwave for 10 secs,"

microwave or halogen oven ?

I am glad you have joined us Pom

Well, I'm absolutely astonished, I don't think I've ever been on ANY forum where the members are so ignorant and UNWELCOMING.

I had the courtesy to introduce myself to this forum and was welcomed SOLELY by the Admin of the forum, yet, not ONE single member DESPITE 111 members reading the post made comment.

Suffice to say, I don't think I shall be contributing further to this forum.

Hi Pom,
This is how I used to feel when I started this forum.
I think some people are not confident to discuss / post their views and opinions. But they could at least say ‘hello’ to new members and post a thank you. Many times I’ve asked myself - why do I bother. Now after nearly 3 years I’ve got used to people not posting or even ignoring me.

Those who do contribute in this forum are lovely, decent people / forum friends and they make it worth keeping this forum live.

I do hope you will reconsider.
Kind regards
Reeta

Hello and Welcome Pom
This is the first forum I have ever joined, and have learnt so much from reading the posts and recipes, I did not expect to be welcomed by all the members, Reeta welcome was enough for me and maybe other people too.
I am sure all the recipes that have been posted have been tried and enjoyed by all.
Maybe some people like me are not use to forums and do not know how to use them like you do.
To Reeta and Junie a big thank you for keeping it going.
