Roast Potatoes

Post  lonergan2468 on 13.05.12 21:19

Ok, there is debate about the most suitable spud for roasting. I use Albert Bartlett sold by Lidle. The store is a five min walk from my house, so very handy.

Ingredients:
Potatoes
Some plain flour, 1.5 teaspoons
Mustard powder, 1 teaspoon.
Olive oil.

If you have a veg steamer, better for potatoes.
Heat some water in lower pot,
Peel the potatoes and cut in half, diagonal cut .
Place in upper steamer of pot.
Steam for 8 min approx.
Remove and rinse with very cold water, shake to remove excess water, Throw on clean dish towel and dry.
Place in a Tupperware container, sprinkle in the olive oil and use lid, Shake the container lightly about three times.

Rub a little of the olive oil on the baking tray.
Place on the baking tray.
Sprinkle the flour and mustard powder all over.

Using the height adjuster and higher rack, place the tray in the HO.
Set temp to 190 degrees, and timer to 40.
Check at 30 mins approx by inserting a skewer.
If you want to turn the potatoes, this is your choice, but this could make them dry.

Roast Potatoes
Hi folks, this is the one i've found through trial and error.

1. Baking tray on low rack with a little oil or fat
2. 250 for 7-8 minutes,switch on.
3. Peel potatoes and wash.
4. Put in a seperate bowl and put on a little oil, sprinkle on garlic,salt/pepper.
5. When the bell rings take the potatoes out of the seperate bowl and put on the baking tray, set the temperature for 200 and timer for 30 minutes.
Thats it! no pre-boiling.Enjoy
