Safe for table use?

Post  HermitChef on 24.04.12 23:53

Hi all, I'm really interested in buying a Halogen Oven having been fed up with using a hot plate to cook meals on.

I live in a tiny bedsit and don't have much space on the work surface. I'd be constantly moving things on and off it.

So I was wondering if the Halogen Oven would be safe to use on a small pine table that I own. Would I need to put anything under it to protect the wood from burning?

Hi HermitChef

The glass bowl sits on a heat resistant plastic tray/holder. This protects the counter top or table.

Here's another post with similar question: http://halogenovenrecipes.forumotion.com/t2032-halogen-oven-heat-worktop-safety

Hope this helps

Hi Hermitchef

The worktop does get warm around the glass bowl but ok on laminate. I would be worried that it could at the very least dry out solid wood so would place a heat mat underneath to be on the safe side.
