Roast Chicken

Post  Kraft-C on 23.04.12 16:13

Hi all, my very first attempt with my new HO was a roast checken and it was great, the chicken was moist and the skin was a beautiful brown (but not crisp) did I do something wrong? my granddaughter was really looking forward to the crispy skin. Any ideas please? Very Happy

Hi Kraft-C

I'm glad the chicken was lovely and moist. We never eat the skin so I'm probably not the best person to answer this. I usually rub a little butter over the breast and it seems crisp to me when I peel it off.
When resting the chicken I only wrap it very loosely in foil. I suppose if it was wrapped more tightly, steam may have softened the skin.

Has anyone else came across this Question

There are other chicken recipes in the A to Z section.

maybe you can apply honey/sugar water on the chicken skin for getting crispy skin.

Ive just done 1 whole roast chicken in my Andrew James halogen oven and it cooked perfectly, I preheated my oven at 200 degrees for 6 mins then put my chicken in on the low rack and cooked it for 90 minutes turning it over half way through. And its lovely
