It seems no-one has tried this but I don't see a problem if your just dipping the sandwich in egg, then toasting it. Use a baking tray on the top rack with the extender in place and a high heat, turning when the top is browned. Then keep the sandwich warm while you 'fry' your egg.

Some recipes have a sauce which is poured over instead of just dipping in egg - this would probably be best done on the hob - unless someone knows better
