Turning a chicken
Just cooking my first chicken. Put it in breast side down on to the low rack (with difficulty to avoid getting burned). Now having difficulty turning it over! Can one buy special gripping tongs? Any suggestions please?

Re: Turning a chicken
yes oven gloves will do the job marbet
I bought a pair of silicone oven gloves just for that purpose.
You can get them in Pound shops sometimes

Silicone oven gloves, wow I am off to the shops, I learn something new here every day. I have not been so interested in cooking for so long, my cooking gear is so out of dateor I am.

Re: Turning a chicken
I too had problems turning, not only chicken but any joint of meat. eventually I bought 2 very wide pronged forks; (about 6 inch in width) stick each either side of the meat etc and you should be totally in control of turning it.
It took me a long time to find these tools, but did so in M & S Food stores.
Hope this is helpful. Frizzy. xxx

I stick the end of my wooden spoon into the cavity and then just give the chicken a push, or rather a lift under the leg and it 'spins' right over.

turning a chicken
I just use a large meat fork in one side and an ordinary folk in the other to flip it over, making sure I remove the extension ring first to avoid burns. I managed to turn my turkey last christmas this way no problem.

I'm about to find out how to do it, chicken in the oven as we speak, about 30 minutes from now it might be on the floor!
