New to Halogen cooking and this forum

Post  maryg on 12.03.12 14:40

Hi everyone, My name is Mary, I live in Spain and have just purchased a 12 litre halogen oven.
I am still trying to toast a slice of bread (3 actually) which according to the recipe book, says 3 minutes........it's taken 5 minutes and although the bread feels toasted (nice and crisp outside but soft inside) it looks untoasted. Is that normal?
I cooked some chicken thighs on the 1st day I had the oven...I'd marinaded them for a few hours prior to cooking, but they seemed to take an age.....35 minutes. Maybe I put too many in.

Mary

Hi Mary Welcome

Take the manufacturers claims for times with a large pinch of salt. Have a good read of the previous posts and recipes when you get time. There's loads of help here.

Thanks!
I've been having a good look around the forums...which I should have done first, sorry.....and this is such a useful site. One of my friends has a HO and would be lost without it, another hates hers and cannot cook with it at all. I thought I'd give it a try as it seems to use less power than our electric oven which is forever blowing the electrics (we live in rural Spain)
Thanks again for the welcome.

New to Halogen cooking as this forum

Post  jojohnson on 17.03.12 2:32

Hi, I am Joanne and am a busy student so my husband does most of the cooking. I bought this halogen oven with hopes of having time to cook more often. In search of many new recipes that are nutritious and quick and easy...no pork recipes please...
Thanks!
