Baking Cakes

Post  Admin on 25.02.12 12:13

Common problems when baking cakes in the halogen oven:
middle of cake raw or not cook properly
bottom of cake soggy
top of cake overcook, too dark, burnt, hard and crispy

ADVICE:
Place an empty metal tray or line the bottom of the halogen oven glass bowl with foil. This will reflect the heat back up – beneath the cake.

Preheat the halogen oven.

Bake the cake on high rack with extender ring on top. Hot air must be able to circulate all around the cake tin.

Reduce the temperature and cook for longer if you have to.

If the top is getting brown too soon, cover it with foil. Scrunch the edges of the foil to secure it and stop it flapping.

Some people find cakes cook better in the halogen oven if done in a ring tin.

Good Luck
delicious

Hi Beth,
Of course you are suppose to be here, even at my age I have learnt a whole new way of cooking from this site, age is just a number.
I am sure Reeta will have an answer how to fix the number thingy.
Have fun learning.
Take care

Hi Beth,

the box to fill in the birthday details doesn't have any numbers, you have to type it in. That's how I see it from my computer. The age bit is not important to be a member.

My Nan is always telling me, the older the wiser - so we need you here.
