safety alert!

Post  kizzzy on 24.02.12 20:57

i have been using my quest oven for about 6 months now with no problems...tonight the glass oven bowl issued a loud BANG...shattered...rather like a car window screen and a fragment went flying across the kitchen...thank heavens no one or no dog was near it...has anyone else exp. this?

i am now very concerned about the safety of these appliances...i was only cooking jacket potatoes

i have been trying to find contact details for the quest to no avail...if anyone has please let me know

Hi Bev,
I am glad you are not hurt.

There must have been an air bubble in the glass bowl. This shouldn't have been sold but as you are probably aware a lot of these ovens come from China. May be they are not properly inspected for any defect/fault before shipping to uk.

I can't find any info for Quest halogen oven either. I think you should contact the seller asap.

We have discussed this issue when we first started this forum. John, our previous moderator did advise members not to use any bowl if they have air bubbles.
see here http://halogenovenrecipes.forumotion.com/t194-bubbles-in-glass-bowl#574

Take care Bev

hi
we checked the bowl when we bought it and it seemed fine, didnt see any air bubbles...also, have used it often...around 4/5 times a week at various temperatures...it sure went with a hell of a bang...we thought a gun had gone off outside our window Shocked

they refused to take it back Sad saying it is a cosmetic flaw and in no way affects the ovens performance and it was very unlikely to crack/smash/shatter
