Halogen Oven Heat & Worktop Safety

Post  LazyCooker on 22.02.12 23:57

Can anyone tell me (preferably from personal experience) if the halogen ovens are ok to be put and used directly (with their stand) on an ordinary, MDF based, laminated worktop please?

Ours is the Andrew James Premium 12 litre and I've not managed to find any info' about this anywhere, other than the statement in the enclosed user guide which states 'Place the appliance on a level, sturdy and heat-resistant surface'. To what extent 'heat resistant' is my quandary.

Hi LazyCooker

I've had a HO standing on the same spot on my worktop for 2 years now with no problems.

You can place your halogen oven on a silicone mat. Here's a link to Amazon Silicon Mat

You can cut it to the required size. Check your local Poundshop and Wilkinson as well

Thankyou June - I reckon 2 years use would have highlit any (even potential) issues!

Thankyou too Reeta for the 'belt and braces' idea. That would also further reduce any risk of inadvertent movement.

Both answers much appreciated.

you\'re welcome LazyCooker

I should also have added that my HO is in use nearly every day (even for simply heating plates for a hob cooked stir-fry !!
