Heating bought shop pies.

Post  jimschick on 14.02.12 16:54

sunny To be lazy at times, I buy pasties and pies.
How long does it take to cook these ready for eating? They are of course already cooked ; I normally put them in the electric oven for about 20 minutes +.

Hi jinschick

Here is a link to my answer to a previous post

I would preheat the oven for about 5 minutes for these and just make sure they are piping hot throughout - as you would in your 'big' oven. The heat also circulates better if you use the top rack with the extender in place.
If you type what you are looking for into the search box, you can easily find all previous posts and recipes on a particular subject. Very Happy

Of course! I always wondered why people said to put stuff on the top shelf because I put a ready made meal there and it burnt the top layer of the meal to cinders.

I was missing the important bit which was to put the extender ring on it too. Doh! Shocked Very Happy

I like hot sausage rolls, and now my HO heats them to perfection.
High Grid, Extender, 160C, and approx. 14 minutes. From this I have also tried ready cooked shop pies, using similar settings and maybe extending the time a little, and so far have all been very yummy!

Pork Loin Medallions have also cooked very nicely, same settings except after ten minutes turn over and then ten minutes once more. Line the bottom of cooker with cooking foil, catches most of the fat, etc..

Also cooked a small 1/2 Kg. Beef joint, similar to the Port settings, delicious! Very Happy

This is all with a 7L HO and just cooking for my wife and I.
