Hi MummyBabs

I'm glad it worked out. Some members have struggled with this. Maybe when you get a spare moment you would be kind enough to share your recipe and let us know how you cooked it please

Well what I did was. . . .
Mostly cooked in the cassasrole dish on hob and then stewed inHO, the reason for using cass dish due to lots of peeps sying about raw tadting veg and faults of cooking direct in the HO pot.

Beef stew.

Ingredients. About 500g beef (topside chopped into chunks)
Splash of oil.
2onions
3/4 carrots
2celery sticks.
2 parsnips.
Handfull of chopped frozen sweed.
Handfull of frozen pea's.
4/5 big heeped table spoons plain flour
1 pint stock.beef
150ml red wine or beer. (I used beer this time)
Salt and pepper.

1. Heated some oil in a cassarole dish, fry beef off for about 5 mins till brown. Removed the beef from pot and set aside.

2.Add little more oil and fry onions and for few mins. Then add the other veg and cook so they start to soften.

3. Stir in the flour, then add beer and stock then bring to boil.

4. Put the beef back into cassarole pot, season and put a lid on.

5. Put the pot on the low rack in the HO at 180°c. You could cook it slowed and lower this would really tenderize the beef.

6. Cook for about 2 hoursstired it half way.

I also made dumplings but thease need more practice! Lol
Just standard dumpling recipe and popped them inabout 20 mins before the end.
Could have done with longer.
