Garlic Bread

Post  Thinlizzy on 18.01.10 16:30

Hi, today I did a bit more experimenting and tried cooking chilled garlic bread in my cooker. I put the bread on some cooking foil on top of the bottom tray and cooked on 175 degrees for 12 mins. It turned out beautifully, nice and crunchy on the very outside and soft in the middle. On thing for sure though, you need to turn the bread half way through cooking otherwise the bottom doesn't cook properly. The very fact that it only took 12 mins from start to finish was great...no pre-heating the whole oven just to cook a garlic baguette...simples! Very Happy

This sounds silly, but why do many recipes say pre-heat, when the required temperature only takes a short time to be attained?

Hi Marinerw
The only time I preheat is when I am baking bread or cakes.
Take Care

Thanks ThinLizzy for the knowledge.

Regarding the preheat my HO manual advises to do so for 5 minutes.
