Aldi HO - can it self clean?

Post  Sand13 on 16.01.12 14:19

I bought the Aldi HO yesterday (39.99euro in Ireland). I thought they were self cleaning. But it does not have "clean" anywhere on the dials. Can I put water in it and turn it on low for a few minutes to clean it????

Also if I cook a stew or curry - do I put ingredients straight into the bowl or do I have to put them in a container???

Sorry, but I am totally new to HO. All help appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, just add lukewarm water and a squirt of washing-up liquid after the bowl has cooled

Cook in a container on the low rack. You need hot air to circulate all around the food for even cooking.

No need to apologise. That's why we created this forum - to learn from each other

I do a two stage clean, first a wipe with kitchen towel to get the bulk of grease and meat juices.

Then washing up liquid and water usually about an inch or two deep.
Put the oven on defrost for 20 min.

I also got into the habit of using foil in the bottom of the oven if I am not using a dish to cook in.

Cleaning the oven lid is sometimes tricky as you cannot go throwing water around too much with all the electrics.
