What is a detergent?

I know many people will laugh at this question, but when I clean my new oven what detergent, as in product should I use? Do they mean washing up liquid? Sorry for being a bit thick lol.

Hi Chirpybird

You're not being thick - it's better to ask if you're not sure of something. Yes, you use a small amount of washing up liquid.
