Faster Steam Pudding

Post  BillG1 on 12.10.15 21:32

I have never cooked a steam pudding in my halogen cooker.
To be honest I was put off by the cooking time because you can cook an excellent steam pudding in a microwave oven much quicker.
Put your basic filling - Jam, cooked apple etc into your basin.
I use a 2 pint pyrex bowl. Grease with butter if you like. I never do.
Then make up your batter. I use
50 g butter, 50 g sugar (caster) creamed.
1 egg mixed in.
50 g flour with 1/2 tsp bicarb and 1 tsp cream of tartar for excellent rise.
Milk to loosen if necessary.
You can double this recipe for more sponge.
Microwave full power for 4 minutes.
Result faster steamed pudding
