Hello everyone - help with a replacement bulb

Post  fordington on 04.10.11 11:32

I've been using a halogen for a good few years and the results are very good. That time has come when the bulb has blown! Really good bang and the trip switch was activated!
It's a Cookshop with a hinge lid. I've seen the Wolf bulb advertised but it doesn't look as if it will fit the Cookshop.
Can I get going again with a new bulb or have I just acquired a heavy goldfish bowl?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi fordington and welcome

I found this reply to the same question on another web page - hope it helps -

"Had tried a number of places to obtain a halogen lamp for my cookshop 7865 oven.
After ringing 01953 452525 and talking to them they put one in post for me and arrived next day."

Hi all,I have a similar problem except its with a Gino D'Campo oven. My real problem is that I cannot find the way to remove the guard covering the bulb. Hopefully its something simple!! Cheers

Hi Nico,
have you been able to locate the screws?
Below is a post from Viscount.
Hope it helps
Viscount wrote:Ok. so it blew.....new element £9.99 plus £3 postage.
here we go......
remove bottom plate three screws (philips)
remove fan......5/16ths socket REVERSE THREAD!
three more screws remove base plate.
it then all comes apart, element held in with three clips
replace, try and keep fingers off the element.
make the replacement connections
reassemble reverse of wot u did.
make sure the thermostat contacts are on and the temperature probe in contact with thermostat...

Hi june, sadly no it isnt. I was hoping someone had the same problem with the same make/model of oven.
Have had a good look around the grill and oven and its not immediately obvious how to remove the grill protecting the bulb. I'm worried that there is no way to replace the bulb, after all the oven was cheap.

It sounds like yours is a seal unit.

Even if you do manage to replace the bulb/element there's no guarantee that it will last another year. The bulb costs between £10 to &12 - so in my opinion, I think it would be wise to buy a new halogen oven.
