Soggy Pizza

Post  new2lou on 20.09.11 18:14

Hi my Halogen arrived today and I couldn't wait to get started. I had a pizza in the freezer and thought it would be good to try the oven out with. I put it on the top rack at 190 for 15 minutes. The top browned very well and looked lovely but the pepperoni started to get quite crispy. The base however, came out quite soggy and cold in some parts. I think it needs to be hotter, lower and shorter cooking time, but I'm not sure. Still I know it's all trial and error. I'll be shopping tomorrow for some pork and beef to cook with vegetables.
Does anyone go to Weightwatchers? I would be interested if there is recipes which I could count with the propoints system. yummy food Sorry if this question isn't allowed. All help/advice gratefully received. Thanks

Hi new2lou,

Tricks for cooking pizza in the halogen oven:
preheat your oven
cook on high rack with extender ring on top
cook at lower temp but for longer if needed
use a pizza mesh

Here's a link for more info http://halogenovenrecipes.forumotion.com/t891-handy-cooking-gadget#3250

Someone else will have to tell you about the Weightwatchers propoints system

Thanks for your help Reeta. I'll get a mesh. I'm cooking mince and baked potatoes at the moment and I'm becoming a bit more confident. I wasn't sure at first, if I had done the right thing but I'm starting to enjoy it. It's so easy and you can see what's cooking. The pork chops last night were really nice and the fat crisped up nice and golden. I even managed to make chips. I cut the chips to an even size, microwaved them for 8 minutes and dried them on kitchen roll. I put them into a plastic food bag and put 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in and shook them.I put them on the frying pan and they turned out lovely.
The website is fantastic and so is the help. Once again thanks so much.
thank you

Hi new2lou

If you want the propoints of any recipe, I can do that for you. I'm on holiday in my caravan and my mobile internet connection is too slow to get all the info. I'll be home from Wedneday next week so just ask and I'll be happy to help.

That would be great June. I started Weightwatchers in July and hopefully for the last time. I'm a champion dieter who always ends up heavier than when I started. The halogen oven will help with healthier cooking. When I get more familiar with the different timings etc, I will be asking you for help. I'm really impressed with the website and the great help and advice I've had from Reeta and yourself. Enjoy the rest of your holiday and I'll be in touch soon. thank-you
Best wishes
Louisa
