NEW TO HALOGEN COOKING

Post  louisebrennan on 29.12.09 20:56

I was very lucky to be given a halogen oven as a christmas gift.It is fantastic, have not used my cooker since xmas day. I would advise people to use at 20 degrees lower temp, for 3/4 of the cooking time of usual oven. Cook veg in foil with tablespoon of water, on the lower rack, you will get perfect results. Very Happy

Hi there louisebrennan,

Welcome to the forum. We have some pretty good recipes here, most of which are tried and tested by our members. If you get any problems or need advice, don't hesitate to ask, no matter how small. Someone will have either had similar problems or have found the info you need.

Your advice is good, thank you. I find that for joints of meat in my 7 litre oven, the normal cooking times seem to be good. Don't forget though, if you do cook a joint, you need to turn it over half way through, otherwise it will be done on top and raw underneath (I found out the hard way).

Hope you enjoy your oven and find the recipes here useful. If you have any suggestions for recipes, you can post them as well.

Experimentation and enjoyment is the key to Halogen Ovens.
