Cable resting on the lid.

Post  Maggie54 on 10.08.11 6:50

The electric socket I plug my HO into is lower than the Halogen Oven lid, being only a couple of inches above the worktop I stand the HO on. I had used my oven several times before I noticed that the cable was touching the rim of the lid and getting very hot so I got my husband to put a hook onto the wall to lift the cable higher and out of the way. Only thing is I have to remember to unhook the cable before I lift the lid off.

I am just mentioning this so members can check that they don't have the same problem, as I am sure the heat isn't good for the cable. Fortunately the cable looks undamaged and everything is still working OK.

cheers Maggie

I try to drape the cable round something behind the bowl so that it doesn't touch the hot surface. I agree that it can't be good for the cable to get hot.

My husband screwed a cuphook under the kitchen cupboard, so the idea is the same as yours, works great!
