annoying pop-ups

Hi Reeta,
These damn things can be a annoying, touch wood I have not had any today. The problem with these is that if you click to delete they open up, and this is when you can infect your computer with malware and spyware. I also use firefox and have protection but these people are very crafty

Bloomin Pop Ups

Post  wimplebum on 22.12.09 22:44

Hi Eric,

I am with Virgin Media for internet and find that they do a package that seems to stop just about all the pop ups. It took me a while to find out who the manufacturer was of the security suite they use was, but after going round the world about 20 times, I eventually got the answer.

Their package apparently is done by Kaspersky - I have a strong feeling that it is the complete security suite - no idea of the cost. The pop up blocker also blocks Advert pop ups too. I rarely get any of this type of intrusion. Might be worth looking at my friend.

I wish you success in eliminating them. I once threatened one of the companies with legal action because they targetted me big time and I told them if it did not stop, not only will they be hearing from my solicitor but I will go to the international papers too. That seemed to work with that one.

Let me know how you get on.

Wishing you every success

John

annoying popups

Post  brocklesby on 23.12.09 8:50

Hi John
I use avira antivirus, threatfire and comodo firewall.
My browser is firefox. i do not generally have this problem, but if you transfer from one web site to another is when they sneak through.
I have not had any for two days now so hopefully they have been eliminated.
I also use open DNS which is one of the best programs for fishing out crappy web sites.
Thanks anyway
