Putting 'something' in the bottom of the oven

Post  dreamteamgirl on 21.12.09 21:41

Sorry that is so vague, but ...

I have just bought a Cooper of Stortford halogen oven and I am LOVING it! BUT

I kind of feel like I wanted to 'line' the bottom of the oven with something to stop it getting TOO dirty

In my regular oven I have a full size cheap oven sheet that I dispose of each year and that combined with bi-annual Oven pride keeps my oven pretty clean

I feel like I would love to put something in the bottom of the halogen and have even seen it suggested but I have no idea what I would use.
Does anyone line theirs and if so what with?

Oh and dumb question, but I assume everything has to go on a rack right? It cant just stand on the bottom?

Thanks!

Hi dreamteamgirl,

sometimes I line the bottom of my HO with aluminium foil, especially if I am cooking fatty food such as roast lamb.

Some food you can cook directly on a rack, such as jacket potatoes

Some food you can cook in a tray placed on a rack

Some food you can cook in a bowl placed inside the oven, no racks , such as casseroles etc

Hi there,

I wondered about how to stop some of the fat especially as I have to dispose of it carefully. I didn't think of lining the oven!!! Makes me sound a bit silly, but I figured because it is glass and easy to wash I never even considered that one. Would make washing the HO much easier. Thank you.

Best regards

John
