pop ups on site

Post  brocklesby on 19.12.09 11:15

Reeta,
I live in Spain and over the last few minutes I have been getting pop up messages on your site. I was just wondering if you have some agreement with these advertising pop ups or have they invade your site

Thanks for telling me Eric.

No , nothing like that. I need to investigate this

Has anyone else been getting pop up messages or ads?

Nope, no pop ups here. I am using Firefox, so that does sometime block things that annoy other people

I have moved this topic to a more appropriate section of the forum.

I have not experienced any pop ups using Internet Explorer or Firefox.

You may have some adware running on your PC that is causing the pop ups.

I would suggest updating your antivirus (Avira) and then performing a full system scan.

If nothing is found, use an online virus scanner such as Trend Housecall for a second opinion.

po-ups on site

Post  brocklesby on 24.12.09 17:30

Thanks agent smith,
I have had none since that first time of mentioning.
I use three different programs, and they found nothing, they generally run every day on auto. I am most careful as I have some critical things on my computer and many moons ago I used m'cafee and had my computer crash.

I will still keep my eye on things though.
Thanks eric

Hi Kooky,

is it only when you are on this site that you get pop ups ?

or, do you get pop ups when you go on other sites as well?

It was 6 months ago that Eric had that issue and all sorted for him.

Has this happens to other members ?

Could you please let us know

Thank you

Thanks for mentioning it kooky.

I have never seen any popups but then I have all sorts of protection on my pc because I use my computer for my work as well.

I don't know where they are coming from kooky. If anyone else is seeing them they didn't mention it.

I hate these nasty popups.

I am quite confident the pop ups your are experiencing are not as a result of this forum.

Kooky,

What antivirus software do you use?
Is your Windows fully updated?

I was going to offer my help and request a Hijackthis log but seems like you already have someone at hand.

Although I will advise you to review your security setup / practices, if you are getting unwanted popups something isnt right.

If you would like further help, please create a new thread although I will insist on a hijackthis log.

Best Wishes,
