Bright orange/yellow light

Post  kirstysiobhan on 26.03.11 12:22

Hi there, I also am new to halogen ovens. I purchased one recently, second hand, in a spanish market. So far I have roasted a whole chicken, baked a sponge cake and baked some potatoes. I have found that I need to cook everything for much longer than the recipes say. I also saw an ad for halogen ovens this morning on tv, and when the oven was cooking food it had a very bright orange/yellow light which mine does not have. Does this mean that the bulb which operates the oven is faulty? I have so many questions? for example, if the bulb does go, is it possible to buy a new one and change it? etc Please can anyone with expertise is halogen ovens give me any answers?

Hi Kirsty,

this is very strange.

you have managed to roast a chicken, baked a sponge cake and potatoes without the heating element?

The bright light always turns on as soon as you start the cooking process. The food will not cook without the light.

You can replace the bulb but it has to be compatible to your halogen oven (the size of your HO, wattage etc)

What brand is your Halogen Oven?

Thank you for sending the picture

You have a digital unbranded Halogen Oven

It could be that this model doesn't have a light with the heating element. Honestly I have no idea.

It is cooking the food, so that's the main thing really.

Let's hope someone else can explain this.

Hi Reeta,
Thank you for your reply. I did some checking and my ho is 1300 w. I also unscrewed the plate on the underside of the lid and all there is inside is a circular heating element and a fan in the centre of it. No bulb and nowhere to put one So is it a halogen oven or not?

Hi from Spain, I hope I will give some help! Very Happy
Don't worry, your oven is going to work just the same as a halogen. Mine is like yours, it's not faulty, it's a hot-air convection oven. I am in a Spanish forum about these machines, some are halogen, some are just air convection, but all work just the same. My mum has a halogen and I have a convection, we both use the same recipes with equal results.
The only drawback of your oven is that it's not so funny in the dark!
