cooking veg

Post  cmackrell on 14.12.09 11:08

Hi

My instructions say you can put a cup of water in bottom of bowl and cook vegetables adding some herbs. Has anyone tried this and if so any idea of how long it would take to cook say carrot and swede.

Thanks
Christine

I have been putting my veg in tinfoil with two to three tablespoons of water and sealing them, make sure you leave plenty of room for the steam.
I cooked a whole 1.6kg chicken, sprouts, carrots, green beans, and potato's for mash. I turned my chicken after 30 minutes and cooked for a further 35 minutes. I par boiled my roast potato,s and put them on the upper rack with the chicken. every thing was cooked at the same time and the flavours were out of this world.
I spoke to Reeta regarding veg , Reeta has not used the tinfoil, and until I get a recipe book, and steaming tray I think I will stick to my tinfoil, it works very well.
give it a try.

thanks for your reply. Will try the tinfoil method. Its difficult to judge how long to cook anything a bit of trial and error really.

Thanks again
